U.S. Bishop says we need a 'Third Testament' because the Old and New Testaments are "problematic" and "not the word of God

 Some Bible passages should be taken out, according to a bishop.

The comment was made in a recent speech at the Center for Public Theology & Public Policy by Yvette Flunder, the Presiding Bishop of The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries and senior pastor of the City of Refuge United Church of Christ (UCC) in Oakland, California.

Both the Old and New Testaments have "problematic" passages, she said. She continued by saying that since the second testament is a word about God rather than the word of God itself, a third testament is 

required.

Leo XIV Elected as First American Pope

First American pope: On Thursday, May 8, 2025, Cardinal Robert Prevost, the 267th Pope, was elected as the first American-born pope. He will be known as Pope Leo XIV.
